Kristine Johnson advises financial services firms on a wide range of regulatory, compliance, and policy issues.
Prior to joining Patomak, from 2016-2018, she served as Professional Staff Member and Economist to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs for Chairman Mike Crapo (Idaho) and former Chairman Richard Shelby (Alabama). On Capitol Hill, she drafted and negotiated legislation, conducted oversight of regulatory agencies under the Committee’s jurisdiction, and advised on financial technology, digital assets, payments, AML/BSA, and other financial market issues.
Before joining the Banking Committee, Ms. Johnson was a graduate research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where she produced studies on financial market regulation. She also served as Graduate Intern to FINRA’s Chief Economist, conducting impact analyses of FINRA rules.
Ms. Johnson received her M.A. in economics from George Mason University and B.A. from Towson University.
