Ms. Johnson is resident in Hong Kong and advises financial services firms on a wide range of regulatory, compliance, and cryptocurrency issues.
Prior to joining Patomak, she served as a professional staff member and Economist to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs for Chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID) and former Chairman Richard Shelby (R-AL) from 2016 to 2018. On Capitol Hill, she drafted and negotiated legislation, conducted oversight of regulatory agencies under the Committee’s jurisdiction, and advised on financial technology, digital assets, payments, AML/BSA, and other financial market issues.
Before joining the Senate Committee on Banking, Ms. Johnson was a graduate research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where she produced studies on financial market regulation. She also served as graduate intern to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority’s Chief Economist, conducting impact analyses of FINRA rules.
Ms. Johnson received her M.A. in economics from George Mason University and her B.A. from Towson University.
