Academics, business leaders and regulators will discuss how decentralized finance — or “DeFi” — works, how it should be regulated and insights into DeFi’s current purpose and future plans at a symposium Feb. 11 at the University of Virginia School of Law.
The Virginia Law & Business Review 2022 Symposium, “Power to the People: DeFi’s Impact on the American Financial System,” will be held at the Law School’s Caplin Pavilion and livestreamed.
- The keynote event, at 11:30 a.m., features a fireside chat moderated by Patomak Global Partners CEO Paul Atkins with Bitfury Group CEO Brian Brooks and Hester Pierce, a commissioner with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
- The Future of DeFi panel, at 2:30 p.m., features Patomak Managing Director Paul Watkins, along with Samantha Pelosi of Guidehouse and William Hughes of ConsenSys, and moderated by Professor George Geis.
