Patomak’s Keith Noreika, former head of the OCC, was quoted today in Semafor:

“As rates come down, the unrealized losses creating a hole on banks’ balance sheets should lessen. But what will really help the regional banks is letting them merge. Technology, market expense, and regulatory are all pushing in the direction.”
