Panel Discussion Featuring Paul Atkins

Patomak’s Paul Atkins participated in a panel organized by The Federalist Society on 1 October 2024. The panel brought together esteemed experts to deliberate on the current state of the Supreme Court and the significant cases lined up for the October term.

During the discussion, Paul emphasized the critical role the Court plays in shaping economic and regulatory policies, particularly in securities litigation and administrative law. He also remarked on the declining number of public companies in the U.S. and how the litigation environment has affected capital formation, highlighting key cases involving PSLRA from the 9th Circuit. Paul also discussed the Court’s approach to emergency dockets, agency power, and how specific circuits are addressing issues like administrative overreach and SEC enforcement procedures. The conversation also delved into broader questions about the direction of the Court and its potential impact.
