We are seeking a Director to join our growing Derivatives Practice. This leadership role provides the opportunity to advise exchanges, clearing organizations, banks, broker-dealers, fintechs, digital asset firms, and other financial market participants on complex regulatory, governance, compliance, operational, and business transformation initiatives.

The Director will lead client engagements, drive business development, mentor consulting teams, and work closely with Partners and Senior Leadership to continue expanding Patomak’s derivatives and market infrastructure practice.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years of experience supporting Designated Contract Markets (DCMs), Derivatives Clearing Organizations (DCOs), or other CFTC-regulated entities, including experience within derivatives exchanges, clearing organizations, consulting firms, financial institutions, or the CFTC’s Division of Market Oversight (DMO) or Division of Clearing and Risk (DCR).

Overview of Job Duties:

Client Advisory & Regulatory Leadership

• Lead complex regulatory consulting engagements involving Designated Contract Markets (DCMs), Derivatives Clearing Organizations (DCOs), Swap Dealers (SDs), Security-Based Swap Dealers (SBSDs), Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs), Introducing Brokers (IBs), exchanges, clearing organizations, banks, fintechs, and other market participants.
• Advise executive management and Boards on regulatory strategy, governance, compliance, market structure, operational risk, and business transformation initiatives.
• Lead regulatory implementation, registration, remediation, and operational transformation programs.
• Advise clients on governance, market oversight, risk management, financial resources, system safeguards, supervisory programs, and applicable CFTC Core Principles.

Regulatory Implementation & Documentation

• Lead the preparation of DCM and DCO registration applications, Core Principle analyses, registration exhibits, governance documentation, policies and procedures, operating models, and regulatory submissions.
• Direct regulatory gap assessments, implementation roadmaps, control framework development, and regulatory readiness assessments.
• Oversee responses to CFTC and NFA examinations, requests for information (RFIs), investigations, and other supervisory matters.
• Review and deliver high-quality client reports, presentations, regulatory analyses, and other client deliverables.

Practice Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary consulting teams across complex client engagements.
• Mentor and develop analysts, consultants, managers, and senior consultants.
• Collaborate with Partners on business development, proposal development, thought leadership, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Build and maintain senior client relationships across financial institutions, exchanges, clearing organizations, fintechs, and emerging market participants.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting derivatives, market infrastructure, digital assets, prediction markets, and emerging financial technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 8–12 years of experience in derivatives, capital markets, financial services consulting, exchange operations, clearing operations, regulatory compliance, or financial regulation.
• Significant experience supporting Designated Contract Markets (DCMs) and/or Derivatives Clearing Organizations (DCOs).
• Experience leading registration projects, Core Principle compliance programs, governance initiatives, regulatory examinations, or implementation efforts.
• Strong understanding of 17 CFR Part 38 and 17 CFR Part 39.
• Experience working with or within the CFTC, NFA, exchanges, clearing organizations, or other market infrastructure organizations is highly preferred.
• Experience in emerging markets, including digital assets and prediction markets, is a plus.

Salary Range:

$200,000-$350,000

Salary will be commensurate with experience, and employee will be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on individual performance and firm performance.
