Job Title: Manager (focus area: CFTC & derivatives)

Patomak is looking for a mid-level professional at the Manager level to work on derivatives compliance and regulatory issues confronting clients, particularly swap dealers, introducing brokers, futures commissions merchants, exchanges, clearing organizations, asset managers, banks, and other financial services firms, such as fintech companies. The ideal candidate has relevant CFTC or NFA experience and experience with regulatory examinations, investigations, and enforcement.

Overview of Job Duties:
- Advise and support clients seeking CFTC or NFA registration, including guiding strategic structuring decisions and building out compliance programs.
- Assess clients’ compliance programs against rules, regulations, and supervisory expectations and provide recommendations for program enhancements.
- Assist clients in implementing robust supervisory and compliance processes, including those related to governance, operations, risk management, surveillance, and other regulatory functions.
- Draft and deliver written reports and agreed-upon deliverables to the client.
- Draft thought leadership on cutting-edge regulatory developments and financial market events in conjunction with the leading experts in the field.
- Track industry developments, trends, and new and amended CFTC rules and regulations.
- Closely collaborate with Partners and Senior Directors on business development and project execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 3-8 years of derivatives market risk management or compliance experience in the private sector (e.g., consulting firm, law firm, financial firm) and/or at a financial regulator (e.g., CFTC, NFA).
- Experience across a broad range of registrant types, including Swap Dealers, Security-Based Swap Dealers, Futures Commission Merchants, Designated Contract Markets, Derivatives Clearing Organizations, and Introducing Brokers, is a plus.
- Familiarity with emerging regulatory areas, such as event contracts and digital assets, is a plus.
- Experience working with teams focused on identifying or overcoming compliance challenges facing leading financial companies.

- Advanced writing and editing proficiency, with strong PowerPoint and Excel skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly get up to speed on new topics, regulatory priorities, and rules and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and deliver a quality product.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced individual and small team environment.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and grow effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.

Salary Range:
$100,000-$225,000
Salary will be commensurate with experience, and employee will be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on individual performance and firm performance.
