Patomak is looking for a financial services compliance professional at the Director level to work on regulatory, risk, and compliance issues confronting derivatives clients, particularly trading platforms, exchanges, clearing houses and other financial services firms. Additionally, the Director plays an integral role in supporting the success of Patomak by supporting a variety of strategic and business development projects. The Director will report to the Head of the New York office. The ideal candidate has 8-12 years of derivatives exchange and clearing operations experience, including direct work with Designated Contract Markets (DCMs) and Derivatives Clearing Organizations (DCOs) or related regulatory experience within the CFTC’s Division of Market Oversight (DMO) and Division of Clearing and Risk (DCR).

Overview of Job Duties:
- Lead engagements focused on the development and submission of CFTC registration applications of DCMs and DCOs, including the design and implementation of policies, procedures, and related compliance and supervisory frameworks.
- Lead client engagements assessing Firm compliance programs against rules, regulations, and supervisory expectations.
- Direct the design and execution of testing to evaluate control effectiveness.
- Advise on and oversee the design, enhancement, and implementation of comprehensive internal control and compliance frameworks.
- Evaluate and provide strategic guidance on clients’ governance framework, operations, and trade and communication surveillance systems.
- Draft and deliver high-quality written reports and agreed-upon deliverables to the client.
- Track industry developments, trends, and new and amended CFTC, SEC, and NFA rules and regulations, advising clients on potential impacts.
- Draft thought leadership on cutting-edge regulatory developments and financial market events in conjunction with the leading experts in the field.
- Closely collaborate with firm leadership on business development, client relationship management, and project execution, while providing mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level professionals.
Skills and Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, specifically in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- 8-12 years of derivatives exchange and clearing operations experience.
- Candidates with direct or oversight experience involving DCMs or DCOs, including through regulatory roles within the CFTC’s DMO and DCR, are highly preferred.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and deliver a quality product.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced individual and small team environment.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and grow effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Proactive and curious.

Salary Range:
$225,000-$350,000
Salary will be commensurate with experience, and employee will be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on individual performance and firm performance.
