This position is designed for undergraduate or graduate students interested in expanding their experience in marketing, communications, and public relations alongside Patomak’s services surrounding financial services regulation, innovation, and public policy. In working at Patomak, individuals will increase their overall knowledge of how financial markets operate and are regulated. Interns receive the opportunity to investigate different portions of the financial sector and gain valuable workplace skills for longer-term career success. Communications interns are exposed to this while also getting deep experience in what it takes to run communications and marketing for a firm in DC. This includes interacting with members of the press, writing content, contributing to business development, and working side-by-side with communications professionals.
Job Title: Communications Intern (Spring 2025)
Job Type: Paid, Full, or Part-Time
Location: Washington, D.C. (In-Person)
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the development of marketing materials, both digitally and in print.
- Following the news cycle to make content recommendations.
- Planning media interviews for TV and radio.
- Drafting press releases.
- Supporting a public affairs campaign.
- Assisting with webinar production and other new forms of content.
- Research various financial sector trends in the United States and globally.
- Supporting an advertising campaign on LinkedIn or Google Ads.
- Improving graphics, designs, and overall branding.
- Monitoring and summarizing actions taken by financial regulators related to financial markets and new technologies.
- Providing project management support, including drafting reports and presentations; editing client deliverables for format, grammar, and spelling; checking footnote citations; drafting and circulating memoranda related to interactions with clients and potential clients; and completing other tasks as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong writing and editing experience.
- Experience working in finance or communications-related field.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- At least one year of completed undergraduate coursework.
- Recommended minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- All-hands-on-deck mentality befitting a collaborative work environment.
- Proactive and curious; ability to quickly get up to speed on new topics.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Canva, and Excel.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Positive attitude and desire to learn.
