Angela Muzai
Manager
Ms. Muzai brings a strong background in regulatory compliance, risk management, and regulatory strategy and remediation for over-the-counter derivatives, developed through her work at the National Futures Association (NFA). Her experience spans across the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) regulatory framework and NFA interpretive notices, with a focus on the compliance obligations of registered swap dealers.
At NFA, Ms. Muzai advanced rapidly through senior roles and led all stages of complex swap dealer examinations. She developed and executed risk-based scopes, oversaw testing and control assessments, and managed cross-functional teams of examiners through full examination cycles. She served as the department’s subject matter expert on capital requirements while maintaining broad coverage across key rule areas, including risk management, business conduct standards, trade reporting and recordkeeping, and margin and segregation.
In addition to her examination responsibilities, she played a key role in evaluating swap dealer registration applications and led the review of registrant materials to ensure compliance with CFTC and NFA requirements. She also presented examination findings and enforcement recommendations to NFA’s Business Conduct Committee, including board-affiliated stakeholders.
Ms. Muzai contributed to several department-wide initiatives, including the development and delivery of technical training programs for staff across multiple departments and seniority levels, from new examiners to senior managers and directors. She also engaged with executive leadership on strategic planning initiatives related to departmental integration and supported NFA’s external outreach efforts, including presenting on examination topics at industry-facing member workshops.
Prior to joining NFA, Ms. Muzai worked at Deloitte Services LP as an Engagement Financial Advisor. In that role, she partnered with senior leaders to develop pricing models and manage the financial operations of high-profile consulting projects across the financial services industry, overseeing a portfolio of more than $50 million.
Ms. Muzai received her B.S. in accounting and finance, summa cum laude, from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business.
