J. Christopher Giancarlo

The Honorable J. Christopher Giancarlo offers extensive expertise at the intersection of finance, regulation, and digital assets. Mr. Giancarlo served as the 13th Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and is widely regarded as one of “the most influential individuals in financial regulation.” He also served as a member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council, the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets, and the Executive Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions.
Mr. Giancarlo currently serves as an Independent Director of Nomura Holdings, Inc., Digital Asset Holdings LLC, and Paxos Trust Company, LLC. Additionally, he is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Digital Dollar Project, and a board director, advisor, and investor in numerous public and private technology, digital asset, and financial services companies.
Mr. Giancarlo has been recognized by Chambers as a leading U.S. attorney for blockchain and cryptocurrencies, named a Top Innovator in Financial Markets by TabbForum, and ranked among the ten foremost crypto lawyers by the American Crypto Association. He was appointed to the rank of Chevalier in the National Order of Merit by French President Macron in recognition of his expertise in cryptofinance.
Mr. Giancarlo received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University and his B.A. in government from Skidmore College Phi Beta Kappa. His first book, CryptoDad: The Fight for the Future of Money, chronicles his oversight of the world’s first regulated market for Bitcoin derivatives and the digital network transformation of financial services. His next book, The New Adventures of CryptoDad: The Quest for Financial Freedom in the 21st Century, will be published by Wiley in October 2026.
