Margot Latham
Senior Consultant
Ms. Latham advises investment management, banking, and insurance organizations on complex credit, compliance, and capital markets matters. She brings over thirty years of industry experience in building and leading asset-based platforms and advising financial institutions across market cycles.
Most recently, Ms. Latham was one of the founding members of a Securities and Exchange Commission-registered investment management platform dedicated to originating and managing institutional debt strategies.
From 2014 through 2022, she led portfolio management for an $8.5 billion commercial real estate portfolio at Guggenheim Partners Investment Management. In that role, she identified and assessed systematic and portfolio-level risks, drove early resolution of issues, and served as a member of the firm’s Investment Committee.
Prior to that, Ms. Latham served as a consultant at Promontory Financial Group. During and following the Global Financial Crisis, she evaluated and advised more than twenty-five institutions across a broad range of asset classes. Her Promontory assignments focused on lending standards, BSA/AML compliance, policies and procedures, problem assets, credit operations, risk assessments, and loan pricing.
Before joining Promontory, Ms. Latham led the development of new commercial real estate products and business divisions at Countrywide Bank and GE Capital. At PaineWebber Real Estate Securities, she underwrote and issued commercial mortgage-backed securities. She began her financial career at Chase Manhattan Bank.
Ms. Latham received her B.A. from Kenyon College, an MBA in finance from Columbia University and has a CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.
