Craig Lewis and Ben Brown Join Patomak Global Partners

Washington, D.C.—Patomak Global Partners announced today that former SEC Chief Economist Craig Lewis and former SEC Counsel Ben Brown have joined the firm. Dr. Lewis joins Patomak as a Senior Advisor, and Mr. Brown joins as a Managing Director.

Dr. Lewis is the Madison S. Wigginton Professor of Finance at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. He served as the SEC’s Chief Economist and Director of the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis from June 2011 to May 2014 while on leave from Vanderbilt University, where he has taught since 1986. At the SEC, Dr. Lewis was responsible for the economic analysis of rules promulgated and other actions taken by the SEC, including various enforcement matters.

Dr. Lewis received his B.S. in Accounting from The Ohio State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin.

Mr. Brown advised former SEC Commissioner Daniel M. Gallagher, Jr. on high-level agency matters, with a particular focus on policy issues involving the Division of Investment Management, the Division of Enforcement, and the Office of Compliance, Inspections, and Examinations. He worked extensively on numerous high profile rulemakings and served as Commissioner Gallagher’s liaison with staff from the Senate, House of Representatives, and other government bodies.

Before joining the SEC, Mr. Brown spent more than eight years practicing securities law in the Washington, DC office of Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr, where he represented corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of regulatory, civil, and criminal investigations by the SEC, FINRA, DOJ, and state attorneys general.

Mr. Brown received both his B.A. and his J.D., cum laude, from Washington and Lee University. While in law school, he served as Executive Editor of the Washington and Lee Law Review.
