New Patomak Senior Leadership Strengthen and Expand Firm’s Banking and FinTech Know-How
Patomak Global Partners is pleased to announce the recent additions of Jamila Piracci and Paul N. Watkins to the senior leadership team, reinforcing and further diversifying the firm’s banking, FinTech, and regulatory policy capabilities.
Piracci Brings Deep Derivatives, Swaps, Banking Expertise
Ms. Piracci is Senior Director, providing clients with regulatory strategy and compliance solutions, based on nearly two decades of experience as a derivatives and regulatory professional. Her regulatory background includes creating and leading the National Futures Association’s regulatory program registering and overseeing swap dealers under the Dodd-Frank Act. She previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she was an attorney with a primary focus on orderly liquidation authority and resolution planning under the Dodd-Frank Act, as well as on market and other developments pertaining to OTC derivatives. She also spent nearly a decade advising a range of OTC derivatives market participants, including dealer banks, investment managers and energy firms.
“The saying should be changed to ‘if you need it, she will build it’ when describing Ms. Piracci’s work ethic and expertise,“ said Patomak CEO Paul S. Atkins. “Her depth of knowledge on swaps and other derivatives issues is second to none. We are fortunate to have her join the firm.”
“I value the ability to innovate with and advise clients on derivatives and banking issues. I have been able to participate in significant segments of the arc of OTC derivatives history in the public sector and in private practice and am grateful to be able to continue that work at Patomak,” said Piracci.
Watkins’ FinTech Experience Spans Payments, Lending, Banking, Data Privacy and Digital Assets
Mr. Watkins is Managing Director and brings deep experience in FinTech, including payments, consumer and small-business lending, open banking, data privacy, and digital assets.
He joins Patomak from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he created the Office of Innovation and led it for two years.
“If you’re a company operating in the financial-services sector, you are constantly investing in your FinTech capabilities because the rate of innovation moves so quickly and permeates the landscape of functionalities so broadly. We are excited that Mr. Watkins has joined our firm as we continue to expand our FinTech and digital currencies portfolio,” continued Atkins.
“Patomak’s expertise in regulatory, compliance and enforcement matters drew me to this opportunity. Over the past decade, I have had the pleasure to work with a wide array of FinTech innovators, and federal, state, and international regulators to help shape the future of financial services and innovation,” noted Watkins. “I’m grateful to continue to work on FinTech issues and help firms navigate Washington, while assisting regulators and policymakers understand this quickly evolving industry.”
