John Vivian joins Patomak Global Partners
Washington, D.C. – Patomak Global Partners announced that former Director for Supervision Risk Management at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) John Vivian has joined the firm as a Senior Director.

As a Patomak Senior Director, Mr. Vivian focuses on banking and fintech issues including risk governance and management, emerging risk areas, and regulatory compliance. He works with financial institutions to help them grow their business and expand their products and services. Mr. Vivian enhances the team’s expertise in banking and prudential supervision, adding to our impressive group of experts in financial and capital markets and commodities.

Mr. Vivian holds an impressive 22-year tenure at the OCC in various leadership positions in bank supervision, policy, and strategic roles. Most recently, he served as the OCC’s first ever Director for Risk Governance, serving as the primary architect of the OCC’s systemic and supervision risk oversight functions. In this role, Mr. Vivian elevated the stature of the OCC National Risk Committee (NRC), a critical role to ensure the NRC is effectively identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and addressing emerging and existing systemic risk issues across the federal banking system in all risk disciplines, particularly credit, market, operational, and compliance risks.
Prior to this role, Mr. Vivian held several leadership positions at the OCC, including Assistant Deputy Comptroller, where he was responsible for assessing safety and soundness of individual and portfolio banks, designing and enforcing formal action and informal remediation, and acting as final signatory on Reports of Examination.
Prior to joining Patomak, Mr. Vivian served as a Senior Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers regulatory and risk consulting where he led or supported a variety of engagements for regional and large U.S. and global financial institutions.
Mr. Vivian received his B.A. in Economics and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
